'Emerald and Blue' is, firstly, the encounter between two different gazes that later becomes the prologue to a destiny. It’s a story that begins with two pairs of irises, and develops as the characters spiral into infatuation. As you listen to it, it’s easy to feel the lightness of a nursery rhyme, and at the same time- all the melancholy and disturbing depths of a dream you can’t control. The orchestral arrangement leads you through these contrasting elements. It’s a song that deliberately expresses basic symbolism, as any illustrated children’s book would. Emerald seems to shine. Blue rules the shadows. Two unusual and slender creatures riding a powerful magic beast. Poetic in their inability to take their place in the real world. A beauty that, without that encounter, would likely have been fatal for both.
